Valentine’s day will soon be here and many of us are looking for the perfect gift. Some may choose the gift of cosmetic surgery. In order to be safe it is very important to schedule a consultation with a board certified surgeon.  The American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only board certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for plastic surgery. The ACGME is responsible for the Accreditation of post-MD medical training programs within the United States. Accreditation is accomplished through a peer review process and is based upon established standards and guidelines. You should also check with your family physician and friends to make sure the doctor has a safe reputation.
